As some of you may or may not have noticed, I haven’t blogged in a while…2 years to be precise!
The reason for that is simply because I stopped travelling. It may sound silly but I felt that without a fantastic adventure to magical countries I was pretty boring…this could be true! I mean I think I’m pretty cool and quite hilarious at times but I’ve had 29 years with myself so if I hadn’t grown to love myself then I’d be in trouble right now! ‘The Adventures of my Feet’ was born as a travel blog and I felt like I couldn’t add to it unless I was actually travelling, also I didn’t want my posts to become meaningless diary entries where I ramble on about everyday things that nobody wants to know about…hey I said I liked myself I didn’t say I wasn’t self critical!
Recently I’ve been having different thoughts on this matter. I put it down to a combination of things.
- Heavy nostalgia induced moments bought on by that annoyingly wonderful app Timehop, reminding me daily about my blog posts this time 2 years ago.
- Creative frustration because I have things to write but nothing to write them for.
- People telling me they miss my blog – I have no idea who these crazy people are by the way!?!
So…here we are, I’m back!
Before I plunge straight into a post taking whichever angle it is I’m going to take from now on (that part is still a bit of a mystery) I should probably tell you all what I’ve been up to…that is if I even have any followers anymore? If there is anyone out there then leave me a comment to let me know you’re there…even if it is just to tell me to be quiet 🙂
Well, I got back from Thailand and tried to settle into London life, I got myself a job, a flat and that all went pretty well for a bit. Then some stuff happened, my feet started itching and I hopped back on a plane to good old Benidorm for another season. That all went really well for about 3 months until The Universe decided She has other ideas for me and I dropped a full barrel of beer on my foot at work one night! 5 broken bones and Connie’s feet were on an adventure back to Mummy and Daddy’s :(.
The breaks were pretty bad and I was in a cast for a long time, followed by a boot and then I had to teach myself how to walk properly again. The accident was in June 2015 and today, 8 months later, I still have a slight limp and my left foot isn’t as much of a monkey foot as it used to be. I should probably explain that I’m pretty handy with my feet. Pure unadulterated laziness has taught me to use them as hands, I can even write with my right foot! Alas the left one has a long way to go before its back to its monkey self.
These past 8 months haven’t been totally wasted though. I’ve spent quality time with family and friends and even got the chance to build a bond with my niece Lily who came into this world just before I left for Spain 🙂
That I wouldn’t change for the WORLD!
I also managed to land myself a writing job. Copywriting so no book deals yet but they have given me the company blog once a week 🙂
I honestly don’t know how many people will be reading this post and I’m sure 99% of you will be friends and family but for any newcomers out there you can find my other blog here – http://www.watches2u.com/hub/blog.html
This isn’t a shameless plug but what kind of writer would I be if I didn’t self promote?! My managers never check how many people view the blog so I get absolutely no work benefit from this at all don’t worry haha!
Well, that’s what I’ve been up to since my last entry. Not as exciting as climbing mountains, meeting elephants and sliding down waterfalls! But something I’ve learned since being home is that every day is an adventure, no matter how small. Another part of your story, and in the end your feet will always take you where your heart wants to go 🙂
You never know, one day I might be picking up my backpack again and getting on another plane…stranger things have happened! 🙂
